Latin Quarter
Diversity and Culture
The diversity of culture found in Paris is absolutely amazing. People of all nations and cultures swirl together into one city. The Latin Quarter is a fine example of some of the diverse cultures you can discover in Paris. Of course, like most of the other places one visits in Paris, it is full of history.
Place of Great Thinkers
Latin, although an ancient language to us today, was once taught freely in this quarter of Paris. People flocked to visit and learn once it was known teachers were setting up shop, and to be great thinkers. As you wander the alleyways and side streets that many of these people wandered through, you can find yourself in some very old sections.
In the Paths of Romans
Streets that date back to the times of the Romans can be found in the Latin Quarter. Other sections belong to the medieval time period. But no matter where you end up, someone years before you walked the same path.
Restaurants and exclusive shops are tucked in along the by-ways and it is hard to choose which to visit first. The choices of what to see, where to shop and things to do along the cobbled streets are fantastic. You will not only find tiny stores but you will find the smallest house in Paris, quaint and adorable.
Outdoor Market
You can also shop for fresh produce and wares at one of the finest outdoor markets in all of Paris. It is huge and overflowing with people, baked goods, vegetables and everything you need to make a meal complete. You can purchase everything from plump olives to bouquets of flowers, and quite a few things in between.
You can also find museums such as the Musee de Cluny in this fascinating part of Paris. The gardens here are beautiful and there are playgrounds for children.
Culture, history and grandeur of times past are all part of what flows in the Latin Quarter of France. You can sightsee, shop, eat or simply walk around soaking up the atmosphere, the choice is yours.
